We wouldn’t recommend buying this guy’s cell phone charger. A Minnesota man’s phone charger set fire to his SVU while driving on the highway, engulfing the vehicle in flames. He saw flames coming from his center console of his car and tried to put the fire out with his hands before man pulling over and getting out before the car was completely burnt to a crisp. Firefighters arrived at the scene and put out the fire but could not save the car.

Neither the car owner nor the firefighters released information on what type of phone or charger the man was using but this isn’t the first time this has happened. There are many stories of phone chargers lighting a car a blaze on the news and in social media. It’s even happened in people’s homes and on airplanes that caused complete flight evacuations. An iPhone charger fire went viral when the user posted pictures of the charger burning through her child’s bed sheets last year. The fire is still under investigation and we still don’t know the make or model of the phone or the phone charger but it sure would be helpful for us smartphone users.
